Meaningful Change

Change rarely comes easy. We have to be intentional and work to improve our health. It's an ongoing lifetime commitment that needs refreshing from time to time. Here are a few reminders of why we start or continue to pursue health.

  1. Why Health Changes Matters

  • Health impacts every aspect of our life

    • Energy levels

    • Relationships

    • Career performance

    • Mental well-being

    • Quality of life

  • Small changes today can lead to significant long-term benefits

  • Health is not just about weight--it's about overall well-being

Think about it - What would improve in your life if your health improved?

  1. What is the Cost of Staying the Same

  • Physical consequences

    • Increased risk of chronic disease

    • Reduced mobility and energy

  • Emotional consequences

    • Frustration

    • Lower confidence

    • Stress

  • Opportunity costs

    • Missing activities with family and friends

    • Reduced productivity

    • Lower quality of life

    • Financial challenges

Think about it - What is my current health costing me?

  1. Building Self-Awareness

  • Change begins with honest self-assessment

  • Understanding current habits without judgement

  • Identifying

    • Daily routines

    • Eating and behavior patterns

    • Activity levels

    • Sleep habits

    • Stress triggers

    • Recognize strengths and areas of growth

Think about it - What habits are helping my health? What habits are holding me back?

  1. Understanding Your Mindset

  • Change your mind and you change your behavior

  • Mindset influences every health decision

  • Developing a growth mindset - a willingness to change

    • Progress over perfection

    • Setbacks are learning opportunities

    • Skills and habits can be developed

    • Letting go of limiting beliefs

      • "I've always been this way."

      • "I don't have enough time."

      • "I've failed so many times before."

Think about it - Reframe your negative thoughts into empowering beliefs. Stop them and repeat a statement of "I can..." EVERY time until your thought patterns have changed.

  1. Defining your "WHY"

  • Motivation comes and goes

  • Purpose creates consistency

  • A strong "WHY" helps people persist through challenges

  • Examples of powerful WHYs

    • Being present with family

    • Having more energy

    • Preventing health issues

    • Feeling confident

    • Living independently as you age

    • Setting a positive example for children

Think about it - Why do I want better health? Why is that important? Why does it matter? Continue asking why questions until you reach a deeper motivation.

NOW WHAT?

TAKE ACTION - by spending a few minutes on each "Think about it" prompt. When we change our thought patterns and thinking, we change our behavior and get results.

Next post will build on this foundation with more motivating ways to meaningful change. Do you need help working through any of these steps - let's extend this conversation to build better health for you.
