Don’t Follow Me

You don’t hear that very often in the world of social media, YouTube and online business formats. But that is exactly what I am saying. Don’t follow me! Yes, please subscribe to my email list, Like my Facebook page and join in our group The Friends of The Kitchen Mentor. It is how and why I keep doing what I do. Hearing from you motivates and inspires me. It is how my business grows. Confused? Read on to clear up the questions these statements may be giving you.

“Following” is a very common term in the online educational arena. There are quite a few folks that I listen to on a regular basis and learn a tremendous amount from their teachings, demonstrations and personal experiences. I’m grateful for this kind of format. Being a visual learner and someone with a pretty packed daily routine, this is a incredible way to expand my experiences in the kitchen, in the garden and in life without leaving home.

BUT, what I do with that information is up to me. I do not listen to follow their wisdom to a tee or without applying it to my particular situation or questioning its validity.

As The Kitchen Mentor has reached people over the years and I’ve listened to the questions that come my way, one thing I see is that no two people are alike. We may have some similarities and share in some of the same experiences, likes and dislikes. We are each unique creatures with unique desires, backgrounds and genetics. As we listen to the “experts” online, I suggest that anything that resonates with you should be tested and proved either by your own experiences or through trusted resources. That is not an easy thing to do sometimes with so much conflicting information. So again, I say test and prove what you are hearing. Experiment to find your own way.

We often listen and subscribe to others because of their personal experiences and the results they have achieved. That is one way of adding value to the information but remember there is no way for a person to give all the background information in a short video or blog post. And getting quick answers to the questions that come up is nearly impossible.

You may think I’m shooting myself in the foot with this post since lately The Kitchen Mentor has been increasing our online presence especially with this new website. Yes, I do hope to reach many people to share the success and knowledge that has been my life since 2011. And I hope my experiences inspire, encourage and motivate you to make changes in your life that will give you vitality and energy and health. It is possible and I am excited to share. However, The Kitchen Mentor and I personally do not have all the answers. The more we learn the more we want to learn. But we do have experiences and insights that hopefully will help you change your life.

The only one I can say without a shadow of a doubt that any of us should listen to when we hear or see the words “follow me” is the Lord Jesus Christ. Recently the sermon series at our church has looked at what that means on a daily basis for the Christian. The daily disciplines of praying, Scripture, fasting, service, Sabbath and love. You can hear these sermons on the Libertylive.com website. I hope you will take the time to watch them.

When I say DON’T FOLLOW ME, what I’m really saying is go ahead - listen, read my blogs, tell your friends, sign up for coaching and special events. Respond to social posts and emails, let me hear back from you. But please follow the path that has been laid before you. I pray our paths cross often and we learn from each other as we grow in wisdom. The wisdom that comes from knowing that He has a special plan for each of us.

Jeremiah 29: 11-14

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope…. come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord.

Blessings,

Brenda
